The company

Founded in 1922 by the Gebrüder Schreck in Wetzlar. Sinec that time, the company has been producing cable releases for photography. Interrupted only by forced farming during the war. In 1963 the company was bought by Rolf Becker and moved its headquarters to Grebenau/ Schwarz in 1965. From 1970, cable releases for industrial use were included in the production program. Through consistent further development of production, an ever greater vertical range of manufacture was achieved.

Today, Gebr. Schreck manufactures all turned parts itself and also winds the required springs on its own automatic machines. For the turning stop, teh company has modern CNC machines from STAR, but also still precise and reliable cam-controlled machines from Tornos and ESCO. Due to the equipment and the existing know-how, the turning shop also accepts external orders up to 10mm diameter. Customer requirements are processed by our on development department in cooperation with the customer until they are ready for use.

Grebenau-Schwarz (H). This month, the Gebr. Schreck company, owned by Rolf Becker, is celebrating its 50th anniversary in the Schwarz district. It was founded in Wetzlar on June 8, 1922 by the two precision engineering masters Karl and Adolf Schreck. From the very beginning, the company was involved in the manufacture of motor vehicle parts and then manufactured parts for microscopes, which were supplied to the Leitz company in Wetzler. In 1927 the production of cable releases was started; about 20 employees were employed. In a short time, this export item rose to 60 percent of total production. The company delivered cable releases to America until 1941 and then had to work as an armaments factory for the Air Force and Navy. In 1945 the old production was resumed and in a short time the export share rose to about 80 percent in the 1950s. During this time, the number of employees often grew to 40 people. On January 1, 1963, the technical businessman Rolf Becker from Frankfurt took over the business and in 1965 he moved to Grebenau-Schwarz. Half a million cable releases are currently manufactured annually and the export share is 40 percent. Well-known camera factories such as Leitz, Linhof, Eitmig and others are among them

Group of customers of Gebr. Schreck at home and abroad. Even NASA is one of their customers. For example, fright cable releases are also built into the lunar probes.
